Went book shopping today, wanted to get a few more books for the littles to put under the chrismas tree, and I also needed some light reading for over the break as most of my books haven't got a place in my new house so are still packed.
They had a 5 for $25 sale on a selection of paperbacks, and I managed to dig out a few good ones. Usually those tables have all the old crap, but I found an oldish Val McDermid I haven't read, along with an oldish Richard North Patterson I haven't read and 3 other authors/books I've not heard of. All crime - except one.
This is the exerpt from the back of the 5th one:
IT BEGINS IN THE MOST boring place in the world: Chickentown, U.S.A. There lives Candy Quackenbush her heart bursting for some clue as to what her future might hold.
When the answer comes, it's not one she expects. Welcome to Abarat.
Looks highly amusing :D
I love books, and would love to own one of everything, but I can't believe how expensive books are. I don't understand how people can afford to buy books all the time. I have a very decent income and I can't afford it, I don't know how people on tiny incomes can afford it - I guess they sacrifice other peoples stuff so they can get what they want. But even a set of kids books I was looking at for $40, and they were for a 5 year old!
This, people, is why I watch so mucb TV lol

Mmm Jeri Ryan and Stephanie March in a courtroom together. Now there is something wet dreams are made of.
I know I said I was going to wait until the end of season 11 before watching SVU, but I got impatient. Am up to - uhmm, ep 8 I think and am thinking it's the best season since Alex left originally. Of course it helps that she's omgsomuchhotterthanever.
And there was an arm touch that made me stop it and go back to watch it again, awww.
Time to go back to the fic writing drawing board I think, my head is 'sploding with Alex/Olivia goodness.

Normally I don't have too many issues with the smell of meat, but right now mum is cooking lamb and it's making me want to throw up.
Cue gag reflex. Yik.

Currently I only speak english, and sometimes badly. I wish I could 'speak' sign language, not only because I have a deaf friend that I would love to be able to communicate with, but because I think it's a really under-known language that needs more non-hearing impaired people involved.
